Karee Clothing Private Limited makes clothing from natural fabrics in limited runs. This page covers how we handle fabric offcuts during production, how we package orders, and what we recommend when a Karee garment reaches the end of its life.
Every Karee piece is cut in a small, fixed run at our Jaipur studio. Fabric is bought to match the run — we do not cut speculatively or for warehouse stock. This means offcut volumes are low by design. The offcuts that do result from cutting are repurposed: we use them to make small hairbands and ties, which go out as complimentary additions with orders. Fabric that cannot be repurposed into accessories is composted or used as stuffing material. We do not send fabric waste to landfill where we can avoid it.
Karee orders ship in cardboard and paper packaging. No single-use plastic. Women's orders arrive in magnetic closure boxes that are built to be reused — for storage, gifting, or anything else. We do not use polybags inside the box. Tissue paper used in packaging is unbleached.
If you want to recycle your Karee packaging: the cardboard boxes and tissue paper can go into standard paper recycling. The magnetic strip on the box lid should be removed before recycling if your local facility requires it.
Cotton and linen clothing lasts longest when washed cold, on a gentle cycle, and hung to dry rather than tumble dried. Heat is the main enemy of natural fibres — it weakens the weave over time. Ironing linen while slightly damp gives the best result. Cotton can be ironed dry on a medium heat.
Washing less frequently extends garment life significantly. Natural fabrics do not need to be washed after every wear. Airing garments between wears is usually enough unless there is visible soil or odour.
When a Karee garment reaches the end of its wearable life, the natural fabric composition means it can be composted if uncoated and undyed, or donated to textile recycling programmes. Cotton and linen break down in composting conditions. We recommend checking with your local municipal facility or a textile recycling drop-off point for the most appropriate disposal route in your city.
Indian cities with textile recycling facilities include collection points run by organisations such as Goonj, which accepts used clothing and fabric across India for redistribution and upcycling.
